Bufffalo Springs National Reserve Entry Fee
Whether you are a citizen, resident, or non-resident, there are entry park fees to help facilitate wildlife protection, support the local community, and fund conservation, among other things. The fee may vary depending on whether you are an international visitor or a Kenyan resident/citizen. Another thing that makes the fee vary is age.
Children under 3 years old usually get free entry regardless of their citizenship, but you should confirm with the park prior to your visit because it may vary due to gate policies.
For the Kenyan citizens and residents, the fee is the same. This also applies to residents of the East African Community in general. Children below 18 years old are required to pay an entrance fee of KES 800, and adults are required to pay a KES 1,200 entrance fee.
The standard entrance fee for international visitors is $80, and $45 for adults, and children respectively, for each individual.
On top of the individual entrance fee, vehicle entry charges are billed separately for registered motor vehicles and are charged according to the vehicle type. The following charges are a fee per vehicle per day.
Vehicles are categorized into three classes: saloon car, minibus/van, and bus/track. The fee for a saloon car is KES 400, a Minibus/Van is charged at KES 1,200, and KES 2,400 for the bus/Truck. These charges often apply to the self-drive individuals but are generally included in your package if you are using a tour company for your safari. It is advised to confirm with your preferred tour company before booking.
Kindly note: Vehicles are required to be 4X4 so as to access some sections of the reserve comfortably, especially during the rainy season.
Buffalo Springs National Reserve Requirements
For International visitors and tourists in Kenya for holiday, transit, or work, you need to have your foreign passports or business visas. Residents and citizens of the East Africa Community, which includes Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Burundi, are required to have their passport, National ID, or work permit to prove their status at the gate.
You are advised to make payments electronically using M-Pesa, a mobile money transfer app, or using a Visa/MasterCard debit or credit card. Cash is also accepted, but is not often encouraged to pay in cash.
The ticket bought will be valid from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm on the specified day and in the event you need an overnight ticket, you have to ensure it is registered to avoid a double charge.
