Hell’s Gate

The Hells gate National Park is located in the environs of Lake Naivasha, 15 KM from the turnoff of the ancient Nairobi-Naivasha Highway and110 KM from Nairobi. It is one of the most remarkable tourist destinations on earth. The spectacular scenery that is towering cliffs scrub clad volcanoes and water-gouged gorges inspired the filming of various Hollywood videos in the park over the years

The diverse topography and geological scenery of Hell’s Gate is home to a variety of wildlife, flora, and more than 100 bird species. Hell’s Gate is an ideal venue for a day trip. In addition to the bio-diversity that includes raptors, visitors can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, and a natural spa

There is no perfect time to visit the park as Gate is always open for wildlife watching throughout the year, although rainy season would impede your touring.

The park is always opened from 0600 hours till 1800 hours.

Fisher’s Tower

Fisher’s Tower is a 75 feet tall tower, an incredible scenery with the daring rock that is perfect for climbers who want to assess their bravery against the summit.

It is an exceptional first power station in Africa, Ol Karia is a geothermal power station using the Hell’s Gate’s closeness to the now dormant Ol Karia volcano whose magma still streams underneath the par.

Wildlife Observing

Hell’s Gate is not famous for wildlife viewing, but it is still a habitat to a diverse range of wildlife. Immense herds of buffalo, Thomson’s gazelle, and warthog can be viewed within the reserve, as well as the Maasai giraffe. They are also big cats, including lions and leopards do live in the sanctuary, but are they rarely seen.

Extreme Sports

Hells Gate has diverse canyons and gorges. Thus it is renowned for rock climbers and mountain racers looking for a new challenge. These sports are dangerous and could result in broken bones or death in case of an accident.

You can also enjoy incredible wild bike riding at hell’s gate, and you have to carry your bike because they are available bikes for at the gate.

5. Hell’s Gate has incredible scenery provided by the Central Tower, the park’s gorge, and Fischer’s Tower. Fischer’s Tower was formed as a result of eruption activity. It was afterward named after a German traveler called Gustav Fischer; it is now one of the reserve’s many prevalent rock climbing sites.

 HOW TO GET TO HELL GATES

Hell’s Gate is situated approximately 100km northwest of Kenya capital city, Nairobi, and is around 18KM west of Naivasha. The park offers accommodation facilities; most visitors are from a day trip to Lake Naivasha. Naivasha is easily accessible by cars, the Nairobi Naivasha highway. Otherwise, daily flights to Loldia airstrip on the western part of Naivasha are available to tour the park.

Getting to the park from Nairobi is easy, as this is one of the most significant transport centers in the region. Intercontinental flights land in Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), 15KM southeast of Nairobi city.

Naivasha, from where you can easily access Hells gate reserve, is a suitable stop-over between Nairobi and the Maasai Mara National Park. The distance from Naivasha to the Maasai Mara is 170KM, and it takes three and a half hours to get to the place
